My Story

I am a Canadian, Pakistani that was born in Nigeria and raised in Calgary’s Ward 5 and Ward 10. As a proud graduate of Calgary’s public schools — Chris Akkerman Elementary, Dr. Gordon Higgins Junior High, and Lester B. Pearson High School — I know firsthand the life-changing role our schools play in shaping futures. Public education opened the doors for me to pursue a Business Administration degree at the University of Regina, earn my CPA designation, and complete the In-Depth Tax Program.

My professional journey has been rooted in financial leadership and accountability. I currently work as a Tax Specialist with MNP, one of Canada’s leading public practice firms, where I provide expertise in complex financial and tax matters. Before this, I served as Finance Supervisor with the Regina Police Service, managing multi-million and billion-dollar budgets, providing oversight, and solving difficult financial challenges. These roles taught me the importance of transparency, responsibility, and making sound decisions with public funds.

Both my personal experience as a Calgary public school student and my professional expertise in finance have shaped my belief in the importance of strong, well-funded, and inclusive schools. I am running to ensure that every child has the same opportunities I was given — and to bring financial accountability and community values to the decisions that impact our classrooms.
